Its blue colour is characteristic of a dyeing method that relies on a base of indigo, a natural colourant used for thousands of years. This traditional method lends the colour unique nuances, which evolve with time and use. The colour also has a natural tendency to bleed. A few preventative measures must be taken in order to preserve the beauty of this material over the long term :

- When you are not wearing it, store your hat on a flat surface or in a suitable hat box: this will enhance the stability of its shape.
