Stitching

Before sewing the leather, the artisan marks it with the inclined teeth of a punch and pierces it with an awl.
Then, with a length of linen thread called a “brassée”, previously coated in beeswax, and a needle attached to each end, the artisan crosses the threads over for each stitch through the full thickness of the leather, creating a continuous line.
The saddle stitch thus ensures a highly robust assembly, while also being one of the house’s graphic codes.
