The story behind

The Amalthee box features a hand-painted "Myriade" design in red ink, contrasting with the Swift calfskin leather in bleu de Prusse. Meaning "ten thousand" in Ancient Greek, "myriad" refers to the large number of lines decorating the box. Before starting to draw the lines by hand, a pounce pattern is created, using little holes to recreate each design. The pounce pattern is placed on the leather sheet, and charcoal powder dusting is applied to the holes, allowing the artisan to see the design. Then, it is time to prepare the ink. The artisan practices their technique before delicately applying the paint to the change tray freehand. Skill and a highly-trained eye are essential to avoid corrections and obtain a meticulous result. As different-colored inks offer different levels of coverage, sometimes two coats need to be applied. After drying for several days, it is time for the last stage, which involves delicately removing the charcoal powder from the leather using sheepskin. Three formats of this box are available: 8 watches, 6 watches and cufflinks, 4 watches and jewelry.
