The Story behind
The finalist of the "Grand Prix du carre Hermes" competition launched in 2019, Dutch illustrator Viktor Hachmang blends the refinement of Japanese prints with the modernity of Belgian comics from the 1950s. A futuristic cavalier drives off into the night on a motorcycle with gleaming curves, the prelude to a new epic set in the city. Around his neck a silk scarf flies in the wind, while in the background you can spot a storefront reminiscent of 24 Faubourg. Greek, Latin, Russian or Thai letters spell out Hermes in neon.
