The story behind
Pierre Marie – a devotee of the decorative arts – found inspiration within the collection of traditional shop signs at the Carnavalet museum, and subsequently the Émile Hermès archives. This design recalls the ornate signage of historic cabarets, locksmiths, restaurants and bakeries, whose ironwork has adorned the streets of Paris since the Middle Ages. With its elegant volutes, arabesques, harnesses, buckles and chains, it evokes the spirit of the saddler with boundless creativity. A dream sign for all Hermès stores.
