The story behind
Stirrups – used to provide the rider stability – have changed over time, differing from country to country. With this design, Virginie Jamin, who was fascinated by Emile Hermes' collection of stirrups, showcases a number of different styles. In the top left-hand corner we can see a Chinese bronze model from the 18th century complete with dragon-embellished branches and on the opposite side, a 19th-century Brazilian stirrup adorned with a five-pointed star and fine botanical openwork.
