The story behind

The classic shirt dress is reinterpreted each season, this time with an all-over Washington’s Carriage print silk twill. This dress can be worn belted to highlight the waist. Cufflink-style buttons on the cuffs accentuate the masculine-feminine look.
The story: the Washington’s Carriage scarf (designed by Cathy Latham in 1979) was inspired by a watercolor painted in 1792 by J. Robert Hart. It illustrates the carriage in which George Washington is said to have travelled from his New York residence to Federal Hall for his investiture in 1789.
