The story behind

Bouclerie d’Attelage is a scarf created by Françoise de la Perrière in the late 1970s as a homage to the profession of our founder, Parisian harness maker Thierry Hermès. Buckles inspired by pieces in the Émile Hermès collection are arranged in neat lines, while shadow and light accentuate the relief of each. The buckles belong to harnesses, a set of components that attach horse to tack. Bouclerie Moderne is a simplified version of the Attelage scarf that emerged decades later. Clean outlines replace the sculpted contours, and metallic reflections give way to flat colors.
