The story behind

Once per year, the big, strangely beautiful pink flamingos begin a courtship ritual which will pair them up... until the following year. Playing with their incredibly supple and gracious long necks, their haughty walks, their carefully smoothed wings, males and females observe one another, nudging and sizing one another up for hours on end. Wings unfurled, together in a feisty head-to-head, the two birds in this drawing, surrounded by palm trees, orange trees and tropical flowers, hold their own celebration of Florida, the land of their birth.
Hand-painted onto the porcelain, Laurence Bourthoumieux's pink flamingos have never looked better than they do reimagined by the craftsman's paintbrush.
