The story behind
Joseph Black is an animal portrait artist. His drawings of animals are photograph-like, and Cheval Talaria is no exception. Modern and bold, the animal is covered with the famous Rocabar horse blanket. Only half of its body is visible. Talaria was named as a tribute to Hermès' winged sandals which, according to Homer in The Odyssey "carry you swift as the flowing wind over the ocean waves and the boundless earth".
