The story behind

This short-sleeved twillaine sweater is cut from a Boucleries modernes printed silk twill scarf, remeshed to a cotton and silk knitted fabric. The saddle-stitch style dotted lines repeat the pattern of the scarf and the piece is updated with an ultraviolet knitted border on the cuffs. The piece’s originality lies in the positioning of the scarf, placed on the front of the sweater.

The story: a 2017 design exclusive to Hermès, Boucleries modernes is inspired by a pattern created by Françoise de La Perrière in the 1970s, which paid tribute to the profession of Thierry Hermès, the house’s founder, who was a Parisian harness-maker.
